Routines provide security

Despite Corona, parents should keep a cool head and actively shape the situation. This is the advice of the youth and family centers (JFBZ) in the district of Tübingen. Here are some tips. Parents should not search for information constantly, but only two or three times a day, and only from trustworthy sources. Daily plans help to structure everyday life. Routines and rituals create security for children – for example, when to eat together, when to learn and when to go to bed. Rules should apply, but parents should also make exceptions. In this way, unnecessary conflicts can be avoided or mitigated. Parents should also take good care of themselves: for example, take a little break to calm down. Parents, teenagers and children can stay in touch with relatives and friends via phone, Skype or other media. The JFBZ advise parents to go outside with the children at least once a day. They can move and work out in the fresh air.
